The Theatre
The operating theatre is fully air-conditioned, and has been equipped to accommodate all aspects of hand surgery and other surgery that lends itself to day case treatment under local anaesthetic.
There are no facilities for general anaesthesia, since the majority of surgery of the hand is most suitable for local and regional anaesthesia. The equipment includes power equipment for fine bone surgery, with X-ray control, wrist arthroscopy equipment, an operating microscope, and a full range of standard surgical equipment.
The theatre is spacious and comfortable, and has the advantage of a large window overlooking the garden. The presence of natural light and a pleasant outlook is very much appreciated by the patients who are awake during surgery, and helps them to relax and feel secure.
The changing facilities attached to the theatre are designed to allow simple quick access to the theatre with secure storage of clothes and valuables. Full resuscitation equipment is on hand, and staff are fully trained in its use.
